What if....

What if I cut out cardio and did straight weights and watched my diet, I will still loose fat but gain muscle mass faster right? At the moment I do a fair amount of cardio, it doesn't do much for my trouble spots for fat ie:love handles but the rest of me is getting thin and I am trying to build some mass and loose fat.

So I am think would just weights be enough too loose that fat?

My answer to this is simply, yes. What your experiancing no doubt is where your just burning the muscle under your fat, and so you will appear to be getting smaller and loosing weight (read:muscle weighs a lot mroe than fat) but in actual fact your not buring hardly any fat. If you have a good controlled and balanced diet you can indeed increase mass and cut fat, and this is the best way to do it, as the more muscle you add the higher your resting metabolic rate will become meaning you burn fat just doing nothing I hate cardio personally, except skipping, I dont do any cardio at all unless I skip ... how easy life is...

Well I don't eat that much through out the day..I am going to try and add weight gain to my diet for extra calories..think this would be a good idea? And still cut out the cardio hehe. I guess I'll just have to watch my fat intake.

Not sure about the weight gainers, most of them are nothing but sugar etc, better to spend the money on chicken breasts etc.

I'm not a big fan of weight gainers for the very reason that Lee J B listed. Better to spend your money on protein powder (if you want the liquid meal route) and eat a little carbs with the protein shake.

Well this stuff is called Mammoth 2500 and it contains 900 calories 56 grams of protien and 135 grams of carbs and only 18 grams of fat for every 4 scoops.

My whey protien supplement for every 2 scoops is 25 grams...I figured the Mammoth 2500 would be a better way to go, but you guys say it is all sugar? Doesn't list it on the container. If that is the case yeah I probably shouldn't take it.

Damn you, let me keep my star hahaa alright I get the picture, but I have dropped down again to 156 yikes!! I really have to stop dropping. Although I was 185 and not working out at all so I am still happy, I'm 5'9 and want to at least be around 170.

135g carbs?? Thus sugar...
18g fat?? Whhooooo whheeee!!! That hurts!

I use to have meal replacements on a daily basis. Stopped taking 'em and almost immediately lost a few pounds (fat). Go to a bit of extra trouble and rather pre-pack some more healthy meals. Your aim is to lose some more weight (fat), right?

In extreme cases I take a little container filled with whey powder and a few slices of rye bread with me (that is when I know I will not be able to get a proper meal somewhere & I just do not have the time to prepare one. A desperate last minute resource)

Hey everone im new to this site, and im goning to through my 2 cents in here. I did cardio every day did not eat much and dropped from 165 to 130. i was very weak maxing out at 135. I also looked very soft. If i ate what i eat now in a normal day i would weigh in 4 pounds heavier the next morning when i was dieting. I haven't done cardio in 6 months started a high protein diet 2 months ago and am up to about 145 and can lift 160 for as many sets of three reps. Moving up 5 to 10 pounds a month on bench. I appear harder and not as girl like as before and i realy can't tell that much fat gain on my stomach. So i agree with every one else either focus on gaing muscle or focus on losing fat. These fitness forums realy provide tons of information thats how I got off my fat loss diet and on to my high protein bulking diet. By the way i am on 6 meals a day of atleast 30 grams of protein a meal. Muscleshoppe.com has EAS 5lb protein for $25.
