I'm not exactly sure, but hamstrings might be the main muscle you get your speed from. Cause I just noticed that when you use the motion of running or walking and as you push off, your hamstrings tighten. So that might mean that hamstrings are the most important in this case, but I'm not exactly sure. However, I do know that the quads are extremely important in running and any cardio exercise so I would focus on your quads and hamstrings both the same to gain more speed.

Hi Ice-

All the muscles of the leg are important for speed. Running is not an isolation exercise!

Are you a sprinter or a distance runner?
