it doesnt matter when as such. just keep it away from weights, either a min of 8 hours apart or a different day...

you'll only turn into a kenyan runner if you do excessive running and dont consume enough protein and therefore suffer huge muscle loss. keep the weights up and you shouldnt have a problem.

I think GraemeK meant don't run 8 hours before or after using weights. Or run on a different day altogether. Not an 8-hour run.

any cardio exercise is good for fat loss...so that includes joging. as i said just make sure you get enough caloires which would include protien. you want to make sure your body had enough protein to hand and doesnt have to break down muscle tissue. keep on the weights hard in the gym so that your body has to always rebuild muscle otherwise you'll experience what i did and lose a lot of your mass! my shoulders disppeared for a while...

complex carb meal or shake with some protein before and a protein shake with higher GI source after.

Can I ask why everyone here has a negetive attitude about pairing cardio with weights?

Of course if I was doing Legs, I know it is not smart to bust your butt with cardio right before. However, I think it is very beneficial in order to loosen up your muscles to do a very short warmup session before legs.

However, if I was doing upper body, I really would not feel bad about doing cardio right before. Even an hour of cardio. BUT, I would be sure to eat something quick absorbing, like a Powergel before I started lifting so that there would be glucose readily available in my bloodstream.

Do you all still think that you go seriously catabolic if you are sure to take in something high gylcemic right before you commence training with weights?? I can see how not eating in between would be very bad, but what are your thoughts?

I notice the men here are very lucky in that no one seems to have to do cardio and you all stay so lean!! Yes, I am a woman!
