You're being a little faecious. Just because there are negative aspects to running doesn't mean it should be cast aside. The positive far outweigh (in most cases) the negative. Running is a possibly the cheapest cardio you can do, and has a positive impact, improving the condition of your heart, lungs and muscular system. Further it is of great benefit to your mental health, and seen as one of the best de-stressers you can do.
Also, it is something you can do on your own, with friends, inside, outside, come rain, snow or shine, and competitvly or just for fun.

If you are getting hurt that often from just running you are probably doing something wrong. Wrong stride, wrong shoes, overtraining, running on the wrong surfaces, running while already injured, etc.

Most running ever did to hurt me was give me shin splints, and those never came back once I healed and adapted to the increased stress.
Someone might slip up and drop a barbell on their face before their spotter can catch it. Gosh, I better not touch weights anymore.

I don't particularly like running, but I do it anyway. There is simply no better way to increase my cardio-ability. And I'm not going to have much of a choice when it comes to my police tests/training. I either run or fail.

I wouldn't know. I'm 5'9", 170. (Note that my BMI is borderline because of muscle, not fat.)
In other words, you're posing a false dilemma here. Unlike how you and a few others have portrayed the issue, the choices are not simply a) run or b) become hopelessly weak and fat. I don't currently run, but I'm faaaaar from morbidly obese.
My point in starting this thread was merely to express frustration at the fact that although I actually want to run, it is statistically undeniably the (amateur) exercise most associated with serious injury. And I've had more than my share of these, despite medical consultation, professional advice, careful training planning, and top-of-the-line shoes.
It just ain't a very safe exercise, statistically. It sucks.

Jay. What's your purpose in starting this thread? Want advice? Justify your inability to run? Discourage others from running? Create controversy?
You'll find the responses more relevant if you make it clearer what you want.

That happened to me with a DB. Luckily I'm not that strong and it was only a 30 pounder. Hurt my nose and made my eyes water a bit, but didn't even leave a bruise.

Yeah. I've dropped the olympic bar on my face and my neck...don't ask. And I dropped 155 on top of my neck. Fortunately my spotter got his act together before I turned purple. But things happen.
My thought is...if your dedicated enough you just don't care. I've gotten hurt alot. Alot in the gym. Alot outside of it.
Sports injuries are on a weekly basis. I love sports. I'm not gonna stop.
Weight room injuries on certain occasions where I'm being stupid and trying more weight than I should, or bad form...rarely happens. But when it does, I keep bustin my butt in that room, whether I'm hurt or not.
Running injuries. I hurt myself farily regularly. Especially shin splits after some HIIT or GC. Guess what...I never regret it.
I get broken blood vessels on my shoulders from squats. Sucks. Looks ugly. People think I'm crazy. But ya know...squats are well worth it...AFTER the workout that is
Sometimes when you love something...it does matter what happens as an outcome hahha...no sex joke intended guys

Pain is part of the game. NO PAIN NO GAIN. Injuires in sports are common, they teach you patience and decipline. They also tell you, u better watch what the **** you do. lol. PEace out.
