Yo, I'm 15 years old and 136, and I play basketball and soccer good, but I still can't run 2 miles straight. It's hard as hell.

Like what Dan has said before, you could lift your ass off, work up to a 500lb dead, then some 300lb dude that's 5'9 could walk up to it without ever training and pick it up like nothin. See what i'm saying?
I know what you mean. I hate the fact that small guys (like 130 lbs, not much bigger than me) can come in and lift twice as much as me.....grrrrr!!! But I don't think I'll be getting to a 500lb dead anytime soon

To me, running sucks. That's entirely opinion. I run (jog really) infrequently. Just a little now and then to get a break from my stair machine for cardio. I hate it though. I usually throw in some sprints to make my running an interval workout. A couple miles total -- warming up, sprint intervals, cooling down -- that really does me in.

I've got a friend who runs marathons. A light workout for him is 13 miles. I can't even comprehend that. He runs 20 miles on Sundays. UGH! He actually qualified for Boston this year. He had hotel reservations, the whole thing was set. But he pulled his Achellies in training and had to cancel the trip.

Probably just different.

When I am out there struggling with 4 miles or on a big day - 6 miles, sometimes I'll meet a friend who is passing me repeatedly. For him, and easy run is 16-20 miles. Of course this dude does 2.2 mile swims, 32 mile runs, and 112 mile bike rides...it's just all about what you are training for and what you like to do.

I'm with the "running" vs. "jogging" theory here. I am not a runner, I don't have my clients run, and in fact, often discourage it unless the person is a real runner who has integrated running into their life and loves it.

But, that said, given the choice, if you insist,...SPRINT, run, long strides,....then walk fast (do not jog).....Running (sprinting, long strides, power movements required to RUN fast), are less damaging on the joints. Jogging is a surefire way (in my opinion) to begin the process of degeneration in your joints (including your spine).

You can twist it quite easily if you don't properly warm-um and stretch. Can't blame that one on the running though.
