Will Squats Equal A Bigger or Smaller Butt??

Hey people, I have a question that has been bothering me for a LOONG time. I have a huge butt and it seems like theres alot of fat in that area. The weird thing is that I'm not overweight. I would do ANYTHING to decrease the size of my butt. Now I have heard that some people say doing squats will make your butt bigger, and I have also heard people say that they will just increase the muscle and decrease the fat-therefore making the butt smaller. I just wanted to know the truth so that I can hopefully achieve my goal of decreasing the size of my butt. I am 16 years old and I am a male. Is there some place where I can post a photo of my butt(with pants on), and then see what people will say about how much I can decrease the size? I would be so thankful for any replies...thanks.

More muscle, less fat. If squats are part of an overall fitness program and diet is in check. So if you have a jiggly soft butt, it will get smaller. If you have a tiny one that isn't enough to sit on, it'll get bigger.

In the online journals section, there is a progress pictures section. Post them there.

Diet, that's kind of related to your specific goals and needs. Since you said you are 16, I'd suggest just eating a good diet with a balance of protein, carbs, and healthy fats for every meal. Then create a caloric deficit with cardiovascular exercise. Increase your muscle mass with resistance training.

This will allow you to get rid of any excess body fat more easily since it takes more calories to support muscle than it does fat.

hi mjm07!

i would have to agree with everthing welch has said, on a side not though when your doing squats specificly for your glutes make sure your going really deep and not to heavy (to avoid injury), also SLDL,s are great for the glutes and hams (in my opinion the best) so if you are not currently doing them i would definatly recoment learning how to do those as well.

good luck to you with all your fitness goals! :

deadlift technique

stiff leg deadlifts are a very compound exersize that incorperate almost every muscle in your body. if you have any back injurys or lack of lexibility in your lower back/hamstrings then i would be very carfull to always use proper at all times.

ok so to do these you will start by grabbing a barbell with about shoulder width grip on the bar, now while keeping a straight back bend over and pivot only at the waist while bending your at your knees (only slightly) as you lower the barbell to the floor, after you have lowerd the barbell all the way slowly pull the bar back up to the starting position. this exersize takes a lot of technique, so start light and never try and lift to much weight to soon.

starting position fully extended position
