Will this yield results??

Hi!
I am 133 pounds, 21 y/o female. My body fat is about 23%. I would love to lose some body fat.

I have started exercising, doing about 50 minutes of jogging 4 days a week. If I keep doing this continuously, will i lose fat? I need someone to tell me I'm doing it right, because then I'll be motivated to continue.
As I said, fat loss is my current goal. Should i add in weights later on after i see fat loss?

As for nutrition- I looked at online calculaters to get my caloric intake. It says 1700 kcal/day. But shouldn't I subtract 500 since I want to lose fat?
Does that amount sound right?

My intake goes something like this:
breakfast- 2 wheat eggos, or cereal with milk, or yogurt-- all with fruit.
lunch- usually a sandwich with meat, cheese, veggies. also a fruit or yogurt.
snack- protein bar (i have to eat part of it before i jog to prevent hypoglycemia- does that hinder my fat loss goal? then i eat the other half about exercising.)
dinner- salad, with pasta, or chicken, or veggie pizza.
i drink about 8 glasses of water each day.

Depending on your height you sound like you are already within a "normal" healthy weight range. Your body may not want to give up the fat it has since 23% is quite healthy for a girl.

I would emphasize weight/strength training in order to boost your metabolism and follow up with a sound nutririon plan using your hunger as a guide.

You can still do cardio but I would take a more balanaced approach.

Search here on DF for various eating plans to support your training.

Others should be along soon to add their $0.02.

Brat gave some good advice. Maybe you are currently where the body likes it.

I would re-evaluate your diet. It is tough to tell ,but you may not be getting enough protein. I would consider eating 5-6 mini-meals versus the 3 meals per day. This will help your fat loss goals by keeping the metabolism high.

Try giving up the pasta, rice, potatoes, pizza, etc. for dinner and stick to the salads. Eat more salad to fill up.

Don't add weights *after* you've lost the weight, add them *now* because it will assist you in losing the bodyfat.

Besides, weight training is a heckuva lot more fun than just 50 min of jogging.
