Will you be training . . .

On New Year's Day? Will it be busy as usual or an abbreviated version?

What about New Year's Eve?

I will be in Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl. I will run on New Years Day and it just depends on if the hotel has a weight room as to whether or not I will get to lift.

I'll be lifting on both of them. Friday is my off day. If it's not Friday, I'm working out. Holidays are just another day to me. Nothing special.

I will be running a 2-mile fun run at 7:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve and that will be it. I invited a young priest from France at my church to join me and to my surprise he said yes. So I will run the race with him and my son if I can talk him into it. I'm excited about it. I will run this race pedal to the metal. My goal is to run the distance in 13:30 or better.

I will be training on New Year's Day at 9:30 a.m. with my karate brothers and sisters, just like we do every New Year's Day. We all put our best effort into this workout so it will definitely be pedal to the metal. Many of you saw the photo of our group after the 2006 New Year's Day workout. Afterwards, we all down a shot of quality whiskey in a salute to our good health and fortune for the coming year. That is the only time I drink alcohol, a far cry from my younger days. Then we go out and eat a big breakfast. Mine will be waffles, sausage and eggs. I'm excited about that workout too.

I work NYE, so NYD is a weight training day. No hangovers for me. Even if not working...I don't drink and my family has a healthy snack, counts the new year down together, then goes to bed. This year, it'll be at my office, and then they'll go home and i'll go to bed.

pierini, with all due respect, and I'm sure you already know this, if you've invited someone to run with you, what if he is not as fast as you?

Wouldn't it be more kind to run WITH him and not run "pedal to the metal" if he is not that fast?

Just wondering.:

Hi Ed,

You are correct. It would be kind to run with him.

I've invited him, he said yes, I told him I would be running my best, we determined that I do run faster, I'm paying his entrance fee, I'm picking him up and taking him there, we'll warm up together, afterwards I'll take him back to the rectory, we'll have great conversation and fun, but that is as kind as I'm going to be. Who knows, maybe I'll get a cramp and he'll cross the finish line before me.

Not training on NYE, other than a 9 mile walk before church. Sunday is usually my day off each week. NYD is planned on being a pushup day, if all goes well I will strive for my 900+ day to hit one of my 2007 goals.
