Way to go Madrid! ::

Those chicks are disgustingly unhealthy. At least someone is sending messages that it isn't the right thing to do.

That's just unfair. If they don't work, they'll never be able to afford any food.

OK, if you had a model who was as overweight as this model in the picture is underweight (so maybe a couple BMI points) and you called her 'disgusting' people would be all over you. Yes, some models are underweight and this isn't healthy and yes, it shouldn't be touted as the highest standard of beauty, but to sit and laugh about them and call them disgusting is not cool, IMO.

Quote:
Spanish daily ABC said it was the first time such restrictions had been imposed on a fashion show, although a recent wedding dress exhibition in Barcelona banned fashion models who took a dress size below 38 (British size 10, US size eight).
And I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. Unless the models are all well over 6' tall, a minimum of size 8 is well into the middle range of healthy, leaving those on the low end of HEALTHY 'too thin'? That's a bit much. Not glorifying starvation diets and UNDERweight models is one thing - vilifying people who are HEALTHY and thin is quite another. I think setting a BMI of 18 or 18.5 as minimum is reasonable, setting it at size 8 is stupid.

firstly overweight and model is a paradox to me.I will always pick skinnier over fatter however neither is ideal. I will say overweight models are disgusting and couldnt care what others say- obviously not if i know the person or too their face or a friend of theirs etc.

Also i agree with you about the size 8 Many women are fantastic size 6s and even 4s depends on height. I do agree with the bmi thing perhaps 17.5 instead of 18 since i used to be 17.8

Java... don't misquote me. I said "disgustingly unhealthy." Look how thin her arms are... that is terrible. Yeah, obese models too are unhealthy. And no, I did not laugh at that picture because it is sad and pathetic.
