A good book for the "true crime" readers
If you like true "mafia" stories heres one I thought was the most disturbing, and I've read about a half-dozen of them.
"Murder Machine" by: Jerry Capeci
true story:
Dominick Montiglio testified against his uncle Nino Gaggi (underboss of the Gambino crime family), and the remaining members of the "de Mayo" crew.
Dominick, aganist his uncle joined the army and was a green berit in the vietnam war, after his return he tried to stay away from "that life" but soon gave in to his uncle Nino and became an "associate" collecting loans and using his army skills, had planted a car bomb for a target that had beaten Nino up in a fight 10 or so years earilier. Dom. also was planted on top of a building with a snyiper rifle the day "Big" Paul Castallano was "made" boss, his orders were to (if he heard shots) kill any man who walked out of that house.
The de Mayo crew was lead by Roy de Mayo a "soldier" in the family who made his bones through Nino Gaggi, Roy recruted teenagers and began a loan sharking and international car theift business, the crew then added (aganist "la cosa nostra" rules) drug dealing and murder for hire witch the crew was responsible for around 200 murders in a 10-year timeframe.
Roy (a former bucthers apprentice) taught the gang how to cut the bodies up and dispose of them, (this was very deatailed in the book), they did the hits in a room next to a bar "the Gemini Lounge" in the room "the horror hotel" lived Roy's cosiun Joe "dracula" Guillermo. Most who entered the "horror hotel" never came out....in one piece anyway.
Roy's gang was so feared even John Gotti didn't want Roy's contract (according to the book).
Roy was found in the trunk of his car in 1983, killed probiliy by his own crew.
I've read this book more than once, maybe we will see this one on the big sreen.
