lol... why?

awesome isn't usually the word that springs to mind when thinking of 80's music

'embarrassing' would be a much better word

Hell i love most 80's music more than today's music. The only problem with naming bands is that most were one hit wonders. Symzie has a good list and I would add:

Wang Chung
Journey
REM
U2
Def Leppard
Aerosmith
Simple Minds

My personal favorite 80's song is "Don't you" by simple minds.

Embarassing? LOL

Ehh, I think it all has to do with when you grew up, and what music was popular when you felt the best about yourself. We tend to hang on to those eras, even as we "grow up!"

Heavy metal and hair bands, a time when gender identification was a total non-issue.

God, I remember the hair, the big hair, all that hairspray! The makeup. The dance clubs. The clothes. The jewelry (BIG jewelry, especially earings). The rhinestones.

What does this have to do with music of the '80's? Not a thing, I got totally distracted there,....

Cool

I love the original van halen with david lee roth!!! i saw them at the garden (youre from nj jaster, so you'll know) in 1984 or 1985. As a teen girl, i was most impressed with roth's many change of clothes. i also saw judas priest, another cool band, in ny. Those were the days!!

I saw them with Dave Lee Roth too, about 1980/81 (not sure) in London, Michael Anthony was playing some keyboard disguised as a bomb! very good gig though, that's the only time I ever saw them. They don't come over very often.
