Computer help: Online games

At Yahoo (and other sites) there are online games that properly display on my computer, but not on my wife's notebook (Sony VAIO 505 Slimline). All you see on her machine is a placeholder for the game graphics. I've installed the latest Directx and the latest Macromedia Flash. What else might I do to make the games work on the notebook?

reference: Cubis

It could be a browser issue... do you have the same version of IE on both computers?

cubis seems to be a Java game, not a Flash game.

Maybe the version of Java on her machine is older or disabled somehow.

either
1) in IE, go into tools/Internet Options.click the "Advanced" tab and make sure anything to do with java is enabled
or
2) Try the windowsUpdate site and see if there's any downloads/upgrades that might help.
finally
3)
go to java.sun.com, go into downloads and get the latest version of the java runtime (i think it's 1.4.*something*)

Cheers
Gush

Cursor,

Another thing you might want to do is restoring all her settings.

1. in IE, go into tools/Internet Options; click the "Security" tab; click "Custom Level" button and click on the Reset button
2. in IE, go into tools/Internet Options; click the "Programs" tab; click "Reset Web Settings" button
3. in IE, go into tools/Internet Options; click the "Advanced" tab; click "Restore Defaults" button

Thanks guys! We got it - It was a combination of updating the IE and turning on the java options in IE.
