Doom 3 scary?
yes, in a word, yes. This game looks so sweet, I'm only just now getting to the point where there's some fighting, but I think the build up to it was awesome, you really feel a part of the game, and every monster I've fought so far scared the **** out of me, you never know whats going to come out of the dark, and no amount of gamma correction will save your ass! If any of you have even a taste of this game you know what I'm talking about. Play this game at night, play it in the dark, and crank up the volume!!
My only issue with this game at all is that it requires such a powerful system! I more then meet the system requirements yet frequently experience sluggishness in most fight encounters, I already have my graphic setting to low quality but still experience this...oh well time to invest in some more ram..

I've played about 6 levels and in parts I'm still amazed at the graphics. Gameplay is simple but fun. New weapons are awesome! What system do you have? I have a a64 3000+ 512 ram, 9800pro, and I can play it 800x600 on medium great. I might be able to help you if you give me specs.

I think im about halfway through. I don't find it to be scary. Stuff pops out from areas that i pretty much expect.
The game is fun don't get me wrong, but on the set difficulty so far it's been too easy.

Its scary, but kind of boring, the levels are so small and tight (not like far cry which is wide open). visually this game is awesome, but i cant really get addicted to it.
Im running at 1280 X 1024 at high res getting 30-60fps here are my specs:
MSI K8T Neo FIS2R> AMD 64 3400>1gig OCZ 3500 >ATI 9800 pro with Arctic VGA Silencer
(2) 36gig Raptors set to RAID0>250 gig HD

my specs are 512mb ram, 2.0ghz intel pentium 3(4?) processor, nvidia geforce4 mx420 series something along that line graphic card, and those are my stats, as far as memory more then enough space well over 100gig. :

I think Chor was directing that at me, but even if he wasn't, what would be something you recommend under say 200 dollars that would run doom3 well.

Nothing scares Dark does it bro ? lol, good man. I prefer Far Cry from the new Doom, don't get me wrong it's not bad but far cry is just in a league of it's own.

Half-Life 2 will be better than everything so far. I really enjoy what I've played of DOOM 3 so far tho. HL has a style all it's own, much like doom. About 3/4 the way done with Farcry, just don't play it that much. It's really hard, but not in the "guys have perfect aim and can tell when your behind a wall" type thing, they are just good.
