He makes fun of Vanilla Ice because it's humorous. You cannot possibly compare the two's recording careers if that is what you are referring to. Vanilla Ice was pretty much a one hit wonder. Eminem is VERY much still around and as far as I can tell his popularity hasn't diminished in the slightest.
His "new" song, "My Band" is exactly what you say it is. It is supposed to be a joke.

He's the 3rd best lyricist today, behind 2Pac and Biggie. As much of a sociopath and psychopath that he is, you cant deny his talent.

Agreed, i think he is at least lyrically biggies equal, if not better, I dont think he can pass tupac simply becuase hes like a legend in my mind no matter how good the stuff that em comes out with is. And 'my band' is a joke, its poppy its humorous it has an up tempo beat, like all his other singles before he releases the album he attracts a poppy crowd to interest them in purchasing his CD, and then dissapoints them with a cd thats mostly rap except for the song they play on MTV. If you don't believe me look at his other singles before albums came out: "My name is" "The Real Slim Shady" "Without Me" and "Purple Pills" and now "My Band" to attract pop crowds to his CD.

it really doesnt take much to figure that out....if you listen to alot of music, and pay attention to whats going on....
the songs that are his radio hits are the attention getters /club bangers. his songs which DONT get radio play and are truly lyrical, contain too much profanity to be edited for the radio. < just another fact/reason to his logic.

his musical genius isnt about the lyrics. its the way he presents it. his flow is so unique. they way he makes words rhyme is so different. eminem is about the only rap i have ever liked. not because its a white guy but because his music so different. compare his flow to that of others and you will see why he is held in such high regards by rap listeners.

Eminem is 4th best lyricist next to Lil' Jon.
I mean who can beat "Yeah" and "Okay" and "Whhhhaaaat?"
Rhyming and saying more than one word is so out of style these days. Lil' Jon is the new wave.
