I Am Legend - Will Smith
I had no idea, but apparently it's a combination vampire flick combined with Mad Max type,....another one where some virus wipes out the world's population but of course, Smith's character is immune. He mostly lives harmoniously (from what I understand) until someone kills his dog, then he takes revenge (doesn't this sound like a young Blade in the making with a little Mel Gibson thrown in for historical measure?)
I'll watch anything with Will Smith in it, oh and vampires of course. So it should be at least eye candy on the screen, with a few personal appreciations , so even if the movie sucks, I can't walk away too disappointed.

I saw the trailer for it and I was impressed. I saw it a few months ago and said "we're watching that one when it comes out" to my girlfriend. Looks like an interesting film and will hopefully live up to the hype. Also, there's a scene in the trailer where Will Smith was doing some pull ups and you can see he worked out hard for this role.

He's always had an incredible body, whether he was lean, cut and buff, like in Bad Boys or I, Robot. Or massed out like in Ali. He's got great genes and obviously works out efficiently. I've never seen him NOT look good, and the movies he's in always seem to display his physique. Heck, he's got a great asset and it helps sell tickets.
I tend to do that a lot when watching movies,...in addition to watching a movie, I appreciate it when I can interpret someone's physique or strength.
I do that in real life too. I actually spoke to this guy the other day just to compliment him on his posture. I've always been analytical over bodies.
The movie, anyway, definitely looks interesting. Especially when you find out the vampires aren't quite what they're made out to be!

There have been lots of movies that I've watched where the actor(s) were in great shape and it helped motivate and inspire me to work out. Early on it was Rambo and Rocky and more recently it's a movie like 300. What I've always found amazing, however, is how many times certain actors get into great shape for a movie and then just let it all go once it's over.
I'll use Gerard Butler (King Leonidas from 300) as an example. The guy was in amazing shape for 300 and right afterwards he kind of let himself go. I'm not saying he completely let himself go but he obviously wasn't in the same type of shape. It always amazes me that certain actors can build shuch a great body and then let it go, especially when you're in a business where looks are everything. There's a real short list of actors who keep themselves in great shape from movie to movie (Will Smith, Stallone, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, etc) who keep themselves in shape year round unless a movie calls for them to be out of shape. I don't know, it's just something that's kind of odd that this thread made me think about.

I was a kid when The Omega Man came out and had nightmares after that! Remember at the end when he takes his glasses off and his eyes are all black? I don't know why or how I could sit through the whole movie and be fine but that one scene freaked me out as a kid and I couldn't sleep!
Man, that's bringing me back some years.
And Jas, lucky you, -- it's coming out in comic book format! You're going to have to build an addition on your house to store your collections!

30 Day of Night was also based on a book (but I think it had a different name), and the ending is very different in the book than the movie, (so the book fans will probably not be happy because it doesn't follow the book).
It's like Night Watch,....that's about Vampires too, and Night Watch and Day Watch are both books I've read, and the movies are very, very different. The movies kept the theme similar but varied the details.
But that's the risk whenever remakes or "based on" type movies are made.
I still want to see I Am Legend and 30 Days,....I, too, like vampire movies, always have....way back to the Dark Shadows series.

"30 Days of Night" was a graphic novel to begin with. I think it was published by Dark Horse. I've seen it again I don't know if it is a re-issue of the orginal or a new GN baised on the movie... Though as I recall the movie was pretty close to the orginial source.

Yes the movie is based on the GN's
They are printing newer stories because of the pop from the movie.

To orkydoc:
It does follow the premise, but there are some major shifts between the GN and the movie, in particular and of the greatest contrast is the ending, how the sheriff reacts, what he does (different in GN than movie).

I still haven't seen it but I've asked some friends and the opinions were mixed. Some loved it while others thought it was overhyped.
