Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead

Has anyone seen this movie? I absolutely love it! For anyone who enjoys Gary Oldman and Tim Roth and Richard Dreyfuss,.....this is a total winner!

Aren't those characters from Shakespeare's play Hamlet? What's the movie about, I haven't heard about this one?

Yeah, they are. It's a kick ass movie. Freakin' funny. When I saw it I thought I was the only one that would like it.

This is by FAR one of my "most fave" flicks. I was actually surprised to hear that anyone else had heard of it. Despite a star cast in leads, it tends to be one of those obscure productions no one hears about unless by accident.

That's how I found it, -- My favorite actor is Gary Oldman (because he embodies the true essence of "real acting"), and I also am a fan of Tim Roth. Interesting to me is how both those actors won their favors by the same means: an uncanny ability to master accents beyond their own.

The fondest aspects of the movie were the plays within the plays, the plots within the plots, getting a new perspective on a classic, even if it is with a bit of creative license, the WAY in which the movie plays out is fun.

I've had that DVD on order for months, and it just arrived recently. It hasn't been available here in the US until recently. I've already watched it a dozen times, have yet to bore of it, and am continually picking up nuances I missed previously. It's worth a look-see without doubt.

I LOVE that movie. I have the book (the play) and it is so fun. Gary Oldman is absolutely wonderful in this film (as is Tim Roth).
