anyone who says "Black Hawk Down, Enemy at the Gates, Pearl HArobor, ETC, etc etc" was a good movie, clearly lacks any intelligence.

Great movies are ones that inspire and provoke thought. LEave you thinking about what you just saw and what kind of ideas were just protrayed for you.

Movies like

Requiem
Spun
American Psycho
the Rules of attraction
bully
SLC punk
gummo
etc
etc
etc

Just because that's your opinion doesn't means it's everyone elses. That alone would prove to be less intelligent. How much fun is it if everyone had to think everyone needed to like the things the like. Everyone has different takes on movies. I like all different kinds of movies, some that remind of of good times, not because it was the best movie but because of the people I was with. Others I like because they make you think, or laugh or cry. This again is completely my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

Youre denying that people who watch movies to see explosions and guns, fight scenes were a guy fights 50 guys...doesnt target the lower end of the IQ spectrum?

Just because that is their choice of movies, what gives you the right to judge them? Mabye they don't like movies like requiem for a dream, a beautiful mind, and movies like that. That's totally their opinion. I'm sure there are people out there whos favorite movies are enemy at the gates, and black hawk down that have a lot higher IQ than you or I.

Black Hawk Down was a very good movie.

Conclude from that what you will.

Pearl Harbor is a good movie also and millions of other people like those movies also, doesnt mean they lack intelligance.

You are assuming that movies that have explosions and guns are devoid of story or acting. There are quite a few movies where the opposite is true. Black Hawk Down is an excellent example, Alien would be another, as is the Terminator series.

He's also assuming films that lack depth or substance only appeal to those with low IQs and that simply ain't the case.

My dvd collection features the likes of Casablance, The Manchurian Candidate and The Godfather Collection. It also features Lethal Weapon, Die Hard and Above the Law.

Go figure.

Die Hard is a prime example of an excellent action film with a great story. It has numerous story elements that were later ripped off in movies of its kind heh.

My favorite movies include Brazil, The City of Lost Children, Office Space, The Nightmare Before Christmas, 12 Monkeys, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Princess Mononoke, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, The Spanish Prisoner... I could go on and on.

Regarding the "action movies are for dump people" nonsense, it's just that: nonsense. Sometimes after a hard week or whatever I just want to watch an action fest. Am I not allowed to be entertained? Are you getting intellectual stimulation when you're working out? No. Do you enjoy it? yes. Separate one from the other and you'll enjoy life a heck of a lot more. It's fun to sometimes just want to see boobies and explosions.

In that regard, The Fast And The Furious is a fun movie.
