The new Rocky movie

I've made a business decision to treat myself to the new Rocky movie that will be released on December 22nd. Alot of middle-age men my age will probably do the same thing as we remember the first Rocky movie when it came out because we were all young dudes.

Any of you current young dudes going to check it out?

HELL YEAH!!! I'm way too young to have seen any of the Rocky movies in the theater so I am very excited about this movie. The Rocky series is the ultimate movie series in my book (although Rocky V almost ruined it). I especially love all the training montages in the series. Especially in Rocky IV. I remember watching that montage a few years ago and that was what really got me interested in working out. I thought Rocky heading to Russia to train old school was the coolest thing ever. I loved the back and forth exchange between Rocky's training (running in the snow, chopping wood, jumping rope in a cabin, etc) to Drago's (working out in a gym with weights, doctors and all sorts of gizmo's). Sly was definately ripped for that movie, a look I've always wanted to achieve since then. The new movie looks cool and and the trailers are getting me really pumped for it. I can't wait to see how he trains during this movie. I loved the fact that Paulie and Apollo's original trainer returned for the movie. I'm also glad they don't overlook the fact that Rocky is old and out of shape to step into the ring (talking about calcium deposits, etc). All I can say is I can not wait!!!

Not exactly a middle-aged man nor a young dude, but I will NOT be checking out "Rocky 6: Beating A Dead Horse."

Here's why: The first Rocky, from 1976, was amazing. Rocky 2 not so much (too predictable but still excting). Rocky 3 was very entertaining (Thunderlips and Clubber Lang!). Rocky 4 had James Brown (a definite plus) and over-the-top jingoism. Rocky 5 was simply awful. And now I cannot imagine any way in which this already tired story arc will not be utter blech.

Plus, I have a hard time thinking that a 61 year old Rocky, who suffers from brain damage, would be a formidible opponent for the reigning heavyweight champion. The premise is ludicrous. I know, I know...willing suspension of disbelief, but come on.

Plus, I just can't see Antonio Tarver as the Heavyweight champ. Tarver got whupped by an over-the-hill Bernard Hopkins this past June. Now if they got Valuev, maybe.... Then I might have seen it for sheer comedic value.

I plan on working out to "Eye of the Tiger" instead.

Rocky 1 (1976) and Saturday Night Fever (1977) both left lasting impressions on me as a 21 and 22 year old respectively. I'm wondering if I should resurrect a pair of yellow polyester bell bottoms, a bright yellow flowery shirt and some platform shoes to wear before I go see the new Rocky movie. Then find a disco to go visit after the movie and get home in time to watch Saturday Night Live with all the first generation cast members. Can't wait!

pierini, when I was 18-19 (10years ago) when I wanted to see a movie (new to me) I didn't get the new hot movie that just came out, I got movies such as, rocky 1, rageing bull, taxi driver, the jerk, mean streets, ect.

I won't be seeing the new Rocky.

I'm a big fan of ALL the Rocky movies, including Rocky V (I thought the street fight was a perfect ending)!

I'll be going to see this one just because. Hell, if you're married, or ever let your girlfriend pick out the movie, you've certainly seen worse!

I always thought the next Rocky would be him training the son, I didn't see Stallone's old-ass coming back for another round, but without Sly in it, the story loses a lot of appeal, I guess.

Though I will admit this looks like a rental, or $2 theater-type movie... even if he trains with kettlebells in it!

So true and so funny! That's why I'll be going to see this movie by myself. I want peace and quiet watching this movie without my wife's nonsense about how stupid the movie is so I can vicariously live through Sly for the entire movie.

Then I might stop at the grocery store on the way home and ask the butcher if I can do a heavy bag workout on some hanging beef/pork, bare-knuckles of course.

I'll probably steal it off the internet, watch it two days before released, and ruin it for you all with a "movie" report and blow the ending.

Or maybe not. I might just go watch it.

They've been trying to get me for a while. No luck so far.
