The Rundown
Anyone check out The Rock's movie "The Rundown"? We just watched it and I thought it was very good. In the beginning of the flick Arnold appears for just a moment. They pass each other and he says to The Rock "Have fun!". Kind of strange.....until I realized he was probably passing the torch - Arnold has out grown the action hero role, and now The Rock will take his place. Kind of makes sense that Arnie would pass this on to him....they both started out using their bodies to make a living. And they were on the stage by themselves...no team to help them get to the top.
Think I'm daft? Or is it possible that is what that scene was all about?

Yeah in an interview, that is exactly what Rock said, "Passing the Torch". I agree, I liked the movie as well, It't not going to win any oscars or anything but its a fun movie. Anything with Christopher Walken I have to see. Something about the guy is so funny. He can say something that wouldn't be funny if anybody else said it because he has this special delivery that is sort of overacting...sort of like William Shatner

I'm looking forward to picking this movie up on DVD. My girlfriend loves the guy who play's the sidekick, and I'm dying to see the fight scenes with Ernie Reyes Jr. (Thanx for that tidbit, Jak)
I read a bad review for the movie recently, but dismissed it as ignorant. The guy went on and on about how it's just violence for the sake of violence, and stupid slapstick with more violence. Well duh! What the hell did he think an action movie was supposed to be like? Sheesh! That's like going to a shakespeare adaptation and complaining that it was too wordy. Cry me a river.

The Rock's latest movie (Walking Tall) got trashed by the reviewer in our Sunday paper. Like you said Wolfie, I just think they don't like action heros. Not enough snob appeal!

No problem on the info Wolf - its what I do =)
Rundown is an excellent action flick that is just plain fun. I might re-review it when I get the DVD if I get a chance as I didnt post my original review on here and I cannot find it.
Oh and I got into a special press screening of Kill Bill Vol 2 last Friday and I must say it is VERY good. If you enjoyed the first, you WILL love the second as it completes the film. I am not allowed to put up my review at this time though but will post it when I can (Day of release).

I haven't seen the first yet, and because of that I probably won't see the second in the theatre. I'm a big Tarantino fan though, so I'll definitely run right out and buy the Kill Bill DVD box set when it arrives.

My friend was talking about how the rock was going to be taking arnolds place, makes sense...However, the scorpian king left a sour taste in my mouth as far as the rocks acting ability is concerned...ugh...but the rundown and walking tall actually look good :

I thought the Rundown was a great movie. I was quite surprised, the Rock is actually a good actor.

Why the suprise? He acts for a living already. "The Rock" and "Dwayne Douglas Johnson" are two completely different entities =)

Well, I wouldn't really call "The Scorpion King" acting. I was surprised because after having seen the first Scorpion King movie, and then seeing the Rundown, it was a big difference. He went from "A wrestler dressed up like Conan" to "A fairly good actor with an abnormally large neck"

And a lot of it probably also has to do just with the fact that he's a wrestler and the way that wrestlers act before their matches (No... NO! *I* am going to stomp... YOUR face! ::lots of nodding and big eyes and gritted teeth::. And I'm sure we all remember Hulk Hogan in Suburban Commando... Even though I never actually saw The Rock wrestle. Just the association of the few wrestling things I have seen I suppose.

That is what I was referring to. He has to act every night for wrestling. The Rock is different from Dwyane Johnson =)
