Interesting....I wonder what the offensive posts were  . I mean I know there were offensive posts, I'm just curios what posts would ruffle feathers SO much.
One reason why people might have been ruffled is that GC was a popular forum, but it had quite a few posts which were perhaps politically incorrect. Now if those posts are confined to a subforum, they will be much easier to ignore for everyone. I might imagine person X would have gone earlier to GC just for fun, perhaps to see if anyone had posted any jokes or random crap, and on entering GC seen almost all threads bashing some political faction, that would indeed be distressing to person X.
So a general guideline could be - if discussion can get possibly heated, post it in political forum.
Immigration debate ? Political subforum.
Iraq war ? Political subforum
Why noone talks about Israel's nuclear program ? Political subforum
Intolerance of Islam ? Political subforum
Jokes/anecdotes/clips? General chat
Pics of hot women ? GC
Discussion on finances ? GC
Weather ? GC
Technology threads ? GC
What people do for a living ? GC
9/11 ? Political subforum
Managed
health care threads ? GC
Books to read ? GC
Math problems ? GC
Guy who injects oil into his arms ? GC
Cars? GC
etc
Political subforum would carry a disclaimer on it being very charged etc, and to not disturb the mods except in case of spamming.
