Troy

I really want to see this movie, not only because of Brad Pitt or Eric Bana but because it just looks good! I hope this movie does well. For $150 million it better!

From MSN.com:
Speaking of “Troy,” co-stars Pitt and Bana made a deal that one would pay the other if he wounded him during one of the fight scenes: $100 for solid hits, $50 for minor ones. Pitt ended up paying Bana $750.

Sheesh, for the money those guys make you'd think they'd make a better deal than that. I'd say more like $1,000 for solid hits and $100 for minor ones.

I'm definitely dying to see this movie though. Pretty much every hack & slash swordfighting movie gets me excited.

Early reviews say the movie is pretty good, but does not live up to the hype surrounding it.

I for one will be going to see it though as I dig epic films.

In no particular order:

Lord of the Rings
Ben Hur
El Cid
The Ten Commandments (Heston+3 hours=epic )
Braveheart
Rob Roy
Spartacus
Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor version, though I've never sat through the whole thing)
Shogun (made for tv, but still counts imo)
Seven Samurai
2001 Space Odyssey
Gladiator (The sword one, not the boxing one )

Shame on me indeed. Let me add to my epic list (your list may vary):

Star Wars, Empire Strikes Backs, Return of the Jedi
Schindlers List
Excalibur
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Dune, Children of Dune

Gone With The Wind and Dr. Zhivago are often called epics, but I haven't seen either (shame on me).

I hope Troy lives up to expectations. I'll be watching it this weekend and want to be happy that I chose to watch it.

It looks great but speaking as a book fiend, I am a bit sad to hear how much they deviated away from the original story..
