Xbox 360 vs. PS3

Here is a simple question. Xbox 360 or PS3. Which one is better.

I have been hearing that although the xbox is supposed to be the sh*t, the PS3 will actually be a "better" performer. I don't like the way Microsoft has taken the xbox, it's now just a glorified computer dedicated to gaming. They are pushing the Live/Community based gaming too hard for me and when it comes down to it, will probably get the PS3 if I do buy one or the other.

The revolution??? why would you want to get that pile of ****. I dont think anyone should get the revolution as the performance is about x10 less then the other two machines and it wouldn't really be advanceing the industry.
The performance of the PS3 is said to be twice as powerfull as the xbox 360. But this isn't quite true, its only the processor that is twice as quick but its still got the greater overall power. I am studying on a 3D animation and modelling course at uni so obviously i will have to get both of these consoles just for research of course . I dont see why people have to make it a compatition all of the time just buy both then you will have the best of both worlds. I cant wait to get my hands on these machines, i have never seen such of a great step between the current generation and the next generation. GET THEM BOTH!!!

graphics make up a tiny amount of how enjoyable a game is.

I think that *cost* might be the deciding factor for me. I ain't blowing $600 on a video game console.

Thats bull crap and you know it is. If metal gear was made from stick men do you really think you will enjoy it? Anyways, greater performance doesn't just mean better graphics. There will be more things that the creaters can do with a more powerful machine

I don't think I'll ever ignore a Nintendo console as they almost always tend to carry some of the best games out there.

Stick figure Metal Gear would be pretty badass, I've enjoyed stranger things than that. It'd especially great if you're a fan of the fighting stick men flashes out there (and I am) : I still make good use of my NES, and sometimes I whip out the Atari. Either way it is irrelevent because none of the systems currently out there make games with "stick figures." The difference between the Playstation, Xbox, and the Gamecube doesn't concern me at all as long as the games are fun. My opinion wont change with the next 3 systems either.

Ahhhh, there are some good memories! If I had an Atari, i'd pull it out too. I think I spent half of my adolescence in front of one, playing Pong and Defender! lol

Actually it's my parent's, I still like it though. I was 5 when I got my SNES, not sure how old I was with the Nintendo though.

the thing is though. the advancement from this generation to the next, is, more polygons, wow, your going to be playing the same games, they just look prettier.

and is nintendos revolutionary idea isnt that great so be it. free online play and backwards compatibilty way back to the nes will still draw me in.

still its a gamble, but i have faith.

However, the way that they are planning on implementing that technology is obviously very different from the route that we're going to be taking. On the business side of things I see where we're going and I see where they're going and I'm not worried at all. I don't think it's going to influence us at all. We're good to go.

Shigeru Miyamoto: We're kind of in a strange period where power is the crux of whether or not something is going to be successful. So again, that seems a little bit odd. If we rely solely on power of console to dictate to where we're going with games, I think that tends to suppress the creativity of designers. They tend to rely solely on what the technology allows them to do instead of thinking of new and creative ideas.

Yeah, the fact that the new Nintendo console will allow you to play old games is what will probably convince me to buy it. I'll probably end up playing more NES and SNES than anything new!

YES! I've got you convinced!

We'll split the cost

Yeah, we've already got an Xbox. What I've really been craving lately is old-school SNES. Really, I mean, better graphics/technology *doesn't* seem to make a difference to me in terms of fun. How advanced can video game technology get? Where does it stop? I'm not going to keep shelling out tons of $$ every time something 'better' comes out.
