Personly i dont think the ps2 is even close to the xbox, this is especially true now that the xbox has a strong line up of classic games. I can understand that 2 years ago people would say that the ps2 is better because of the wide spectrum of games that is has avalible to it, but now its not like the xbox doesn't have a lot to offer in terms of veriety.

I hate Xbox controllers, but I love its graphics. I also don't really care a lot about graphics, they aren't that important as I still enjoy playing quite a few games that are 10 years old or more. They both have a good variety of fun games, so right now they pretty much break even. I kind of wish I could just have one system that would play all the games that I like instead of having to buy 3 seperate ones though. Only reason I even have a gamecube is for Zelda
The reason the XBox doesn't totally whipe the PS2 off the floor for me is it lacks in the turn-based RPG department, and I also haven't been able to get used to the FPS controls for games like Halo. An Xbox controller just isn't as accurate as a mouse no matter how you cut it, so I still get most of my FPS games played on my PC instead. Only games I've really liked on the XBox would be Halo and Ninja Gaiden...and now I have Halo for my PC so I don't really even need to list that as an XBox game.

I agree that the mouse and keyboard is still way better then the controllers of the xbox and ps2,i dont think it can be beat. When you say that you dont like the xbox controller do you mean the origonal one or the controller s (the small one). Most of the people that dont like the xbox pad say that it is too big but now the smaller controller is out i cant really fault the xbox controlelr and think its way better then the ps2 one. You can actually use the left analoge stick of a xbox controller without dislockating your thumb. IMO the ps2 analoge sticks are too low which forces you to use the lame old fasioned d-pad.

im going with xbox on this. better graphics than the ps2 (i know not better than PC but i am a console junkie for life) and awesome games. you have halo, fable pretty soon, ninja gaiden, DOA3 (IMO the best fighting game ever. its so fluid), fusion frenzy (you know you love it). i also like the fact that it has a hard drive and can be modded to copy games, and give you the ability to store and play every nes, snes, sega genisis, N64, and a crapload of arcade games (mods rock, i will have this soon). the smaller controlers are great. it doesnt have near the RPGs as ps2 but oh well.
i have both and the only way i get a ps2 game is if it isnt on xbox. im holding out on getting fatal frame 2 (anyone played it on ps2? comments?)

Didn't like any of the controllers. The most played game I have for Xbox is Halo, and I hate playing FPS with a controller. We hook a bunch of xbox's up and just play with like 16 people, but ya just can't make a controller work the way a mouse can. For other games its good, didn't have any problems on Ninja Gaiden. I'm not a huge gamer though, and usually I'll play something from Dreamcast, Playstation 1, or N64 over most of the newer games...sometimes I go into my old NES and Atari games and play those. Out of all my PS2 games I'd say like 85% of them are RPGs though, the rest are Tekken, Onimusha, or other random things.

I like my xbox better. The graphics seem a bit cleaner. I only play sports games though.

But you can do it with any computer, and with less work...and you actually can even mod an N64 to do something very similar where you can run games you downloaded and burned onto a CD through it. You had to buy a new piece of equipment though, my friend in Cali had one. Forgot the name. I'm pretty sure you can do the same with a PS2 if you add the flip top or a mod chip though. Best thing about the XBox is you don't have to risk a lot of damage or mail it out of the states to get the mods done to it. As far as the PS2's hard drive goes I'm not sure what it is capable of since I haven't bought it.
I'm still disappointed with Sega for bailing out like they did. The Dreamcast is a great system that still can go head to head with a PS2 or a Gamecube. XBox is on top for the consoles as far as power and capability go though. The next generation consoles are probably going to resemble normal desktop computers even more after the success of the XBox.

I'm a PS@ guy out of love for the controls, but after watching my brother buy his, add a 200gig harddrive to it, have it modded to do basically anything a computer can do (he goes online and surfs with it, using the networking it has), as well as keeping a copy on his harddrive of any game he plays on it, i'd recommend Xbox. That's if you know someone who can do the modding in your area.

No, I posted that earlier I thought.
edit: guess not, but I did say RPGs since I've played a few series between the Playstation and the PS2 and the PC, you're not the only one though.
