a trainer told me this

is it true that you cannot overwork your calves?like you can work calves everyday?or do you have to give at least 24 hours like every other muscle?

I'd say that depends on the workout, and the amount of overload. Obviously, your calves consist of more slow twitch fibers and they are used to being worked all day, all the time. With each step you take, your calves are being used.

But say you through 350-400 lbs on your back and do calve raises for 4 sets of 12, your going to feel it hte next day. And trust me, you won't WANT to work them again.
Obviously, that would be tremendous overload, and the everyday walking will be enough to get the bloodflow back to them.

Your body will tell you if theyy've had enough. Sore calves are nothing to mess with. Just go with how you feel.

Some folks calves respond better to high volume training. Some to shorter heavier sessions. Just experiment and see what you can handle. Increase weight and intensity gradually over time though. If you overdo it, you'll not be able to walk the next day.

Some like long, heavy sessions too.

I would say the trainer doesn't know what they are talking about, any muscle can be over trained.
