Boxing

I want to start boxing. I have an 80lb punching bag, but that's about all. Does anyone in here box? Where can I find a website that offers boxing training, tips, and all that jazz.

I don't box, but I do own a bag, speedball and jump rope. That's basically my twice a week cardio extra which is definitely the most enjoyable

Someone posted some bag routines on here ages ago I seem to recall - try doing a search for 'boxing' or 'punchbag' and it should come up with something.

Enjoy..err..punching!

Faded,
I don't actually "Box" with opponents as a sport, but I do practice some boxing methods.

Sorry I don't know any boxing web sites... I will as my husband and see if he knows any.

IF you don't have a gloves, wrist wrap, and mouth piace yet, those will be nice thing to get. You don't have to get a mouth piace if you are not sparring yet, but eventually it will be something nice to have.

I don't know what equipments boxers use... I wonder if they use "double end bags", I love using it.

And focus mitts, They are awesome tools to have if you have a partner to practice with.

It will be great to have a partner to practice with.
There are some wonderful focus mitts drills boxing drills you can do.

...yes, what she said...and most important is the wrist wraps/taping of the wrists...you can really injure them if you don't.

Hey, its good to hear you are interesed in boxing. I used to be an amature boxer and found it to be very rewarding and the most intense workout that I have ever experienced.

Are you thinknig about competing or are you just trying to do it to stay in shape?

There are a good number of sites that can go to for information. Just do a search on the internet and a bunch will pop up. One place that I used to go to is www.fighttraining.com It is a good site but can be a little immature at times. There are forums there with people that can give some good info.

One important thing that you need are wrist wraps, they are something like $2 at any sporting goods store. They will be very benificial to wear when working out on the bag. Gloves are good, if you are doing this to stay in shape, get the heaviest ones you can find. If you are going to get competitive, there is other safety equipment you should get. Not a lot of stuff but just other stuff. But if you are just starting, a bag, gloves, and wrist wraps are good.

I dont box but I used to so now I do their cardio workouts sometimes... so I can help you with that if the time ever arises where you need help with that. Also with a few techniques too, but nothing advanced I wasn't in the game long enough to learn the really complex moves.

Yes, I do and also train people for fun, fitness and to fight. Try ringside.com., they sell equipment & you'll also be able to find some training info. They also sell training tapes you can buy. Just type boxing training in your search and just look at all the different sites.
