can any sprinter in here help me get his physique?

Ok so in the goal of being healthy, cutting fat, getting muscular, i have concluded that to look like something, you have to be a part of that training lifestyle.

After loosing 71lb(trial and MANY errors), I have determined that a sprinters body is what i eventually want.

Its lean, muscular AND can be given size IF desired.

Now after searching on the internet, all i find everywhere is what sprinters CURRENTLY do.....their diet, lifting, training etc......I dont need to know that right now (I think).

For someone who is like me 6'00 , 200lb with 21%ish bodyfat and wants A sprinters physique:

1. What kind of diet do I have to follow OTHER than eating clean????? I am trying to cut fat now so i lift 3 days a week full body workouts and do cardio 3 days.

2. If I want a sprinters physique, what should my lifting look like?

3. How many days should I train? sets? reps? I live in Chicago so forget looking for a track in the cold weather here, what can I do at the gym?

LASTLY, I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I AM LOOKING FOR A PHYSIQUE of a sprinter and am willing to train like them......I DO NOT WANT TO BE A SPRINTER..

I sincerely appreciate everyones response in advance.

Um...Sprinters have the bodies of sprinters because they train like sprinters, and therefore...are sprinters. I don't really know much about how to train this way, but it seems obvious that you have to sprint.

I agree........but my concern is more toward how I personally should cater my diet and lifting toward achieving the physique.

Try www.elitetrack.com.

Why don't you read the book "Ready, Set, Go" by Phil Campbell. He is a masters sprinter and his book discusses the role of explosive lifting (including basic Olympic lifts), plyometrics and sprint workouts.

He has a sprinting workout I have been doing once a week for the past 7 weeks and it is very demanding. It's called the Sprint 8. 30 seconds of maximum intensity sprinting with 2 minutes of recovery for 8 rounds. Takes 20 minutes.

The reality, if your Momma and Daddy don't look like sprinters, then your efforts will only take you so far. But if you do some of the things that Phil Campbell recommends in his book, I'm sure you'll continue to make fitness gains you'll be very satisfied with.

His book does not discuss the nutritional aspect in detail.

Good luck.

My comments were in response to the above...it sounds like you want to "look like a sprinter" but you don't want to do any sprinting. I just don't think that's going to happen.

Mr. P's advice is probably very good; sprinting is an explosive activity, so plyometrics and olympic lifts are probably a good way to go. You could try band sprints - set a cone 15 feet in front of you, tie a jumpstretch band to a stationary object, and around your waist, and attempt to sprint towards the cone with the band resisting you. Bands can be used to augment all kinds of other movements, as well.

A very large part of the reason that sprinters have the physique they have is because of the metabolic demands of sprinting. Your body won't go into that mode just from plyometrics and olympic lifting, no matter how hard you try.

I don't think you can look like a sprinter if you don't sprint anymore than you can look like a bodybuilder without lifting some heavy weights (someone that knows bodybuilding quite well said something similar once). Include sprinting in your cardio that should move you towards your goal of looking like a sprinter - because you'll be one.

BTW, how's the fasting going? Still doing it or is the fasting month over?

S, remember now - this is a TCD instead of full on hardcore high fat cutting. It's designed to preserve muscle, give you energy for good workouts, perhaps get a little stronger. You can move foods around to your daytime schedule to continue cutting with when your daytime fast is over. Spread them more evenly over more meals, maybe even have a few more calories and get even better results.

It's not forever though. When your fat is gone, you'll have to slowly transition back into a normal "fitness" diet. By then, your body should be able to handle it with less fat storage.

Best of luck to you. I admire you doing this for your faith. Probably because even though we are of differing beliefs and I don't belong to any organized religion, I sometimes do what others consider to be rather odd because of my beliefs.
