Football/Wresting training

Hello everyone. I'm a 15 year old kid who plays football and wrestles for a top high school in my state. I know that i really need to lift weights. My endurance is good though, so that is not an issue. Agility drills and things like that would help to but weight training is the most important. Does anyone have some good routines or types of excercises that would help my performance? Tips could also help.
Thanks everyone i really appreciate it.

Well, what weight class do you wrestle?

Also, what state are you from?

high reps and low weight builds muscle endurance. strength helps but isn't necessary as long as you have good technique in either sport, especially wrestling.

I disagree. You can have the most fantastic form in the world, if you're only benching 100 pounds (albeit for 50 reps), you're going to get RUN OVER by the 6'6 300 pounder lined up across from you (Antonio Jerimiah was the 6'6 300 pounder lined up across from me for my entire highschool career). If you want to break tackles, make crushing hits, and in general mess people up, you have to have a lot of strength, not endurance. After all, in football, you get 45 second breaks between plays... plenty of time to recover

And in wrestling, when it comes to REALLY locking the kid down and getting the pin, you NEED to be strong. Great endurance is only helpful assuming the other guy hasn't already used his strength to end the match.

Both those sports are VERY much strength and power with very little emphasis on endurance (wrestling requiring the greater endurance, of course)

i meant to say technique is more important than strength. sure, strength can help a good bit but if you dont have technique you dont have ****. wrestling matches are the most intense 6 minutes of your life and endurance is very neccessary since it is constant for 2 mins each round. endurance is necessary for runningbacks and wide recievers as well and strength isn't as crucial for their position whereas linemen don't have far to go and strength helps them more in order to block or throw off a blocker.

have you ever seen gracie vs. kimbo or shamrock in the early ufc fights? the guy was puny and when compared to the size of the others and he was expected to lose. he used flawless technique though and made all of his opponents tapout with the exception of hughes and some pridefc fights. also, there was a kid on my middle school wrestling team who wrestled 16 pounds under the lowest weight class and went on to win multiple gold and silver medals at tournaments.

I think what this comes down to is I have a heavyweight / lineman mindset and you're thinking along the lines of ligher guys. The bigger you are the more important strength is, the lighter you are, the less important it is. This applies to both sports.
