How do most sprinters train?

Leaving genetics aside, I think the perfect bodies that look good to me are of today's sprinters, some basketball players and wide recievers like David Terrell and Terell OWens.

I think they have muscle, quickness and also look like you dont want to mess with them if you get mad.

How would one train for that? IN specific, how do they train? cardio with sprints? How do they weight train? high reps vs low? circuit training?

To be a good sprinter you need explosive power. So lots of clean and jerks, snatches, and squats.

i think that professional athletes have incredibly good training programs. i bet they do lets say 8 reps for every exercise ofr 2 weeks then switch it to 12 reps and go down to around 6-5 reps for 2 weeks. they work very hard throughout the whole year, during the season and offseason. they watch their diet extremely well, consulting nutritionists and advisors. if you want to look like an incredible athlete, i would recomend to get rid of most of the excess fat that you have on your body, and then build muscle. what i would do is workout 5 days a week, taking the weekend off(no smoking/drinking). Monday- whole body workout, 8 reps of every exercise you do, tuesday- sprints, Wednesday, whole body workout, Thurday-sprints/aerobic workout, Friday-whole body workout. take it easy with the work outs at first, and make sure that you work your legs because it has a nice hormone spike to it. Make sure that you take more protein and vitamins and leave it at that. watch your sleep, get plenty of it. thats what i would do, it has worked for me throughout my 4 years in high school, but sports get in the way a lot, so i cant always lift as i want to and as often i want to.

On another note, sprinters have very low body fat because their job is to move as FAST as they can. Muscle is heavier, yes, but it makes them faster. Fat has no purpose but to slow them down. That's why many sprinters look like real badasses.

but does anyone know how exactly they train? most people wth busy lifestyles and well sculpted bodies claim EXCLUDING CARDIO, your workout should be no more than 45minits...........how long do sprinters or ATHLETES train??
and how? do they circuit train?

monkey: I like your idea, a week of circuit with 15reps, a week of 8, i will hav to try that.

yeah rememeber that when you do 15 reps, that works muslce indurance, when you do like 12 reps, you work on strength, 8 reps --> works on strength and muscle mass gain, 4-6 reps works on strength and power. sprinters have a lot of power and strength, also a lot of muscle, when compared to distance runners. distance runners dont need the power or the strength as much as sprinters do.
