How would you define: sports, athletes, etc

I have this assignment for Health class to come up with a definition for the fallowing words my teacher said he wants more then just a webster style definition although we can use that as a start:

Athlete: according to Webster person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina

Non-Athlete: according to Webster: NOT a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina

Sport Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.

For this one I think you should focus on trying to rein in the extreme diversity of the word. Football is a sport. So is Nascar racing to some. And horse jumping. There's a wide range of "phsycial activity" from the extreme (Olympic weight lifting) to almost none (do we count chess as a sport?). Specifically target the competitive part. If it's not in competition with others, it's called recreation or just physical activity.

How does this sound:

Athlete: a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina. And competes in those games or activities.

Non-Athlete: A person who does NOT compete in games requiring physical strenght or stamina, or a person who participates in athletic events, but DOES NOT compete.

Sport: A PHYSICAL activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and is engaged in competitively.
