Jock straps

In case there is any male jealousy brewing here because of the "becoming-popular" thread on sports bras in the Female Fitness section, I'm starting a jock strap thread for us guys. Nothing may become of it, but you never know until you try.

I wear one with a cup during my martial arts training. The one I wear I bought at Wal-Mart. Nothing else exciting about it to report other than it works.

Nothing exciting to report here except that one time while doing SCARS type training with my kids...I wished I'd worn one...with a cup.

I don't even need the anatomy to react with a major OUCHIE to that one.

That said,....last night watching UFC, while the guys wear cups, one fighter was accidentally kicked in the groin. Bear with my female perspective please,....while I'm assuming the protection is more for basic impact, basic or even superficial (may be wrong word) contact,.....what kind of damage, despite the protection, would this fighter potentially receive? Immediately after the accidental kick he was limping (and there were no kicks or blows, like behind the knee or any other joint hits, no back blows),....

I may not be contributing to this thread with information, but can I participate with my question of female curiosity?

Well I can only speak of those instances when I wasn't wearing a cup.

Immediate buckling of the knees and whole-body weakness. I've heard of cases of pissing blood but that might be male folklore.

It is my hope that pierini created this thread so we can have a guys talk about girls sports bra. Throughout my life I have not paid much attention to jock straps, but a sports bra usually gets my attention.

Just in case this is really a thread about jock straps, I will share my limited knowledge.

For the really young or totally non sports person: Remember this is the one time that the rule of the label inside and to the back, does not apply. If you aren't sure about this, at least don't follow the label rule in the locker room.

For those that are a little older, but have not been neutered yet keep your jock strap handy. When the doctor says to take it easy after your vasectomy believe him. Get your frozen peas or corn niblets and a couple of beers and stay in your recliner for a couple of days. For those that think, they have recovered and go for a 5 mile hike out in the woods and rip the wood off their trailer, let me just say that your jock strap will be your best friend for the next few days.

I wonder if Pierini is shaking his head as the women bop in and out of the Jock Strap thread,....just when he thought he created a safe haven for men (I'm getting flashbacks of the mens' club at Stepford, even though that is not related to jock straps).

And yes, by the way, they do come in different sizes.

I wonder if there is a benchmark size for "the well endowed man" such as the cliche 38DD bra is for a woman?

For the women who want to know it all but are afraid to ask:

Jockstrap - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sorry about the photo - it isn't one of my better ones.

Just like in women, there are lots of nerves in the area. And the impact even with a cup can cause your knees to buckle, the body will lean forward leaving the back of the neck open to a strike. If you go with a face strike first they will usually move back one step with one foot, exposing them to a prostate strike...which is almost always an immediate KO. Don't go for it though, the prostate strike has been fatal on occasion.

And yes, they do come in different sizes...based on your waist size. Cups too come in different sizes but everyone buys the super XXL because who would be caught in the sporting goods store buying a size petite XXS from the cute chick behind the counter?

...if they only knew the truth...she already knows. Sorry guys...you aren't hiding anything, they know after about one look. And yes, they look too...they just lie about it unlike us guys who are more obvious.

To maintain thread momentum, and as a bit of international flavor a 'cup' is referred to as a 'box' in Australia (mostly in cricket circles).

Not so big into jock straps here in Aus, though you can get boxes with waist straps; they're for protection over support though (I've always just tucked mine into the undies and hoped for the best).

I remember vividly a game of lunch time cricket in high school when I neglected to bring my box with me (and I'd be stuffed if I was going to wear the one in the communal school cricket kit). I copped an over pitched bouncer to the cods; I initially couldn't breathe for what felt like a good few minutes (exactly like being winded by a blow to the body), standing upright made it worse, subsequently I had the vague feeling I had been punched very hard in the stomach for about 2 days afterwards (and my bollocks hurt of course).

I retired hurt that day ... and I bought my box the next!!

Without context I would have needed translation for that one. I spent some time in Aussie and a 'box' is a new one on me. But being female it might not come up in casual conversation. Ok Mate.

Yeah I can see how box might not come up in polite conversation (it is obviously not used to refer exclusively to protective equipment here either)

I'm glad the context is obvious enough because describing an over pitched bouncer would require an explanation of the rules of cricket which really is no easy task .
