Ray Lewis is being underpaid

I was checking out the highest paid Athletes, and I didn't find Ray Lewis's name anywhere around. Is it just me or anybody thinks the Raven's are underpaying the best LB in the League.

No kidding.... Seriously... to those guys a couple million doesn't matter because I bet almost all of them have investments and just off the interest alone makes a lot... They get paid to have fun... I don't think that some of them are worth that much...

(and by the way... why did you double post this in both sports training and general training.... plus this topic has no signficant purpose in those topic headings...)

I'll repost it here since the other thread got locked.

There's only one football player on that list, and that's Peyton, the best player in the highest paid position in the league. But don't fret; Ray's total salary for 2003 was just a shade under $10 million ($9,976,100). He's living well. :

Amen to that, any athlete in 6 digits much less seven digits, hell most of them nowadays in the 8 digits, has NOTHING to complain about as far as being paid.

These players help bring in billions of dollars of revenue to their respective company, so they are pretty much "worth" every penny. Ray Lewis may get payed 10 mill a year, but I bet he helps bring in tenfold that amount in season ticket sales, merchandise, etc.

I agree... the chicago bears could be bringing in upwards of 700 million a year, and its not because people want to see our General manager Jerry angelo run around on the field. The players bring in the money, fans by "thier" jerseys. Just because they dont wear suits during the game, don't mean they don't earn their worth.

well if you believe in the madden curse, then lewis is going to be worth a little less than his salary this year. he got the madden 05 cover.

i personally dont think they are over paid. why do they get paid so much? not just because they play football, but because they can play football better than anyone in the US. there are very few people who have the genetics and determination to do what they do. how many people would kill for the shot at playing in the NFL. im sure millions. they cant because they werent gifted. if athletes shouldnt get paid what they do then neither should actors or musicians. how many people would pay to watch teacher/cops(aside from the show)/ect. i do believe jobs like that should be paid better but it isnt going to happen.

It all depends on when he signed is contract...but to me 9.9 million is not underpaid...and he sure wasn't the best linebacker this year...don't want to start an arguement or anything...but he really didn't have a GREAT season...Injury or not...he is still one of the better LB's in the league...but the best this year...he was not...

I am biased though for I hate the Ravens...I also hate the Eagles...so I think TO sucks too...J/K

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lack of supply creates demand. If there were millions of people out there that could play football as well as Lewis, then Lewis would be making a lot less. Having said that, I cant say that it doesnt piss me off that these guys make more in a year then Ill make in my life, even after I get my phd.

ps Peyton is going down this weekend baby!!!!!!

Agreed, you are "worth" (fiscally speaking of course) what someone will agree to pay you, no more, no less.

Elite athletes in any sport are a few hundred out of the 6 billion people on earth who can do what they can do. They are compensated as such.

You cannot be a professional althlete and be under paid. Playing in the flippin NFL is the only payment that i would truly desire. I really like ray lewis on his dedication and heart for the game and not complaining about being supposedly "underpaid" like an assface like moss.
