safety with jump roping?

Well since no one responded in the other forum I'll try here..please help?

I've been jump roping 3 times a week, for 20 minutes, in intervals, with minutes of rest in between.
I read it's better to NOT wear shoes for this...does anyone know the truth?
Also, I jump rope in the driveway, which does not have any "give". I can't jump rope in the street. Should I get a mat and jumpe rope on that?
Also, the back of my lower legs have been sore and stiff lately, its the area right behind my ankles. I wonder what this could be, from jump roping...and how to prevent it?

Thanks!

your achilles tendon? thats prolly not good... you prolly just need to stretch your calfs and tibs...

I would say in the grass, going barefoot would be fine, or on something soft like a mat... but not on the concrete, I dont think the human body was really designed to walk barefooted on concrete.
