Thowing/shot/disc=lose of strength?

For me track is on its 7th week, there are 8 more weeks to go. one of the kids that was on the shot/disc with me quite today because he claimed he was going to lose alot of strength if he stayed with us.
1. When were throwing a 12pound ball and a 1.61pound disc how much strength are you seriously going to lose?
2.When in track we visit the weight room 3 or 4 times a week so how can u lose strength.

First we all know that there are kids who talk big and then when time come to do something they run away like little bitches. This was one of them.

The only reason this kid got to me though is because while in track i havent been able to keep a good workout scedule. Its hard becuse even though were in the weight room 3 or 4 times its hard to guess what days, so thats been one of my big problems. Another one is that in the begining of track i felt sick, had a hard time keeping my diet and a even harder time going to school. I felt like maybe i lost a little strenght over that time but probably nothing that cant be gained in a few workouts, but can someone lose strenght while in track?

OF course you COULD lose strength, but muscle memory will allow you to regain it and then some. Don't sweat it.
