1000 club

I have been working out for almost 2 years now. I currently weigh 151pds, about 9%bf. Last week of school, about 3+weels ago, I tried to squat/bench/deadlift 1RM combined 1000pds+. I was able to max bench 275- which is up from 250 (i forget the program i was using, i found it on here on some link, i followed a chart it gave me, only got 3/4 the way through it by the time school ended, ill post link later once im on my main computer), I was able to get my squat at 360, my normal rep is 10times at 335pds. But, I could not do the deadlift, my normal rep is 275 about 8-10times. I was able to get it up (from ground) to the starting position, but when i started to go down i would always lose the grip. I felt that I could definently do the weight, just the grip i could not keep. My routine is a 3day routine, with one day off on 4th day, then repeat, which ill post once i get home. I do cardio about everday playing pickup BBall games for 1-3hrs and 2-4hrs on offdays. I eat very strict diet, high in protein, low in unhealthy fats etc... Eating schedule is something like Meal 1: bowl of total protein, apple, hard boiled eggs Meal 2:turkey sandwhich, wheat bread, some honey mustard Meal 3: protein bar Meal 4: Whey shake after lift Meal 5:snack, can of tuna/ fruit Meal 6: Grilled chicken with vegtables or steak or fish ... The supplements I am taking are NO2, hot-rox, adnergy, and a calcium supplement. Any comments or suggestions to help me reach my goal, I will post my routine once I get home which will make it obviously much more easier to give advice.

For deadlifts, is your grip proper? You should have one hand facing you and the other facing away. If both hands are positioned the same way, it is much harder to hold onto heavy weights.

Your routine is the deciding factor here.

I disagree with this, but it is preference. I think an overhand grip is much more comfortable for me. Like i said, I find it to be preference...

The alternating grip is more secure no matter how you look at it...so it isn't a bad suggestion. With the hands facing one way you give the bar a chance to roll in that direction if you aren't careful with it, can make picking it up tricky.

Alternating grip is by far the best grip, no way in hell you can pull as much weight with an overhand grip.

I actually took part in a study based on bar grip last year. The over under grip is considerably much stronger and supportive when holding weight.

KC, tell me more about those study results. I've always favored an overhand grip, but expected to switch to a mixed grip when I got stronger and my grip started to be a really important factor.

There is no question. A mixed grip is by FAR much stronger than an over-over.

I've held 650 with a mixed grip, and 410 with an over-over. Case closed.

When I do an overhand/underhand grip, lets say my left hand is underhand and my right is normal like my palm is facing the ground, my left should tends to bother me when I pull heavier weight when my left hand is turned out toward the ceiling... do any of you feel the stress pulling down on your shouler like that?

Were you using the hook grip with your over/over?

Not here, even with hook grip on the both overhand lift the bar feels very unsecure like it will just roll out of my hands
