Are you doing a slight row with your arms, or does the lens make it look like your arms are moving? Think of your arms as two chains - the weight hangs, you don't pull it.

Sometimes it seems that your hips are going up before your shoulders. Pull back, not up.

The beginning of your going back down is not the mirror of the last bit of the lift - it should be. You are leaning forward, the bar pulling you down. That will become an injury.

Get lower to the bar - take off your sandals.

Deadlifts are worth the effort. Good job.

Be safe.

Uhh . . . did you want a technique critique? Oops. Hope you don't mind.

I welcome the feedback!

I watched the clip with your comments in mind. I don't see my arms moving though.
Do many ppl deadlift barefoot?

Thanks for looking in!

I say round your "UPPER BACK" and stop trying to squat the weight up but that's just me. The last rep looked like you rounded your lower back a little and that's a no no.

If you are comfortable with your butt that low to the ground before starting then that's cool. For me I am more comfortable starting with my butt about half way down, but then again my back is my strong point. Keep weight on your heels and tear the hell out of your shins. If they ain't bleeding then you ain't pullin it right :

And for the love of Shrek can you add some weight to the bar next time?

Wear shinguards.

If you think about it while lifting and don't feel your arms are moving, they're not. That observation was a question. Some people, when they start deadlifting, instinctively try to lift with their arms.

Nothing puts you in closer contact with the ground than barefoot. It's not the most important thing in the world, but whatever you're wearing make sure they are solid, not wobbly. They could have been Birkenstocks, which are know for being solid. Barefoot also puts the bar a hair higher on your shins, and when it's heavy that might make a difference. I don't know if many people do, but some do, some recommend it. Those who don't probably don't because their shoes are already on their feet.

Or they don't wash their socks.

i agree with firehawk, gotta drag the bar up your shins. I have bruised shins everytime I DL (looks real cute in a summer dress lol). your deadlift does look better then the first one you posted awhile back.

I personally love deadlifting in just socks. I've pulled my PR's barefoot, and i just feel more solid.

Also Tom is right on with his comments on your decent, be very careful. that seems to be the part of the lift where people tend to injur themselves. lookin much better though, keep up the great work!
