Bent Over Rows Essential?

I came across an article somewhere in one of Arnold's books that stated that it if you really want fully developed lats, bent over rows are essential. Is this possibly true?

I don't know if anyone exercise is literally essential, meaning you couldn't develop a good body without it. That being said, if I only had 3 exercises for the rest of my life, BORs would be one of them. They are a great mass builder for the back.

I agree
T-Bar rows, which essentially are the same thing, are also very very good.

Any type of rowing is essential for lat development. Could be vertical rowing (chins, DB rows, etc) or horizontal rowing (cable rows, seasted rows, etc).
