Bodybuilding Changing Lives
I would like to know from most of you how bodybuilding has changed your lives? Generally I'm talking about in terms of health, attitude, behaviour, stress, illness etc. It has definatley changed my life for the better and I'm hooked. Hopefully (I should think) for life. There was a lad when I used to work as a welder who thought you were gay or down right weird to right bodybuilding magazines. Pity really, he had great potential in his physique. Please say anything you like, providing it's positive. :

My lifting definately gives me a boost in self esteem and better self image. And as to looking at muscle magazines, admiring another man's physique drives me to work harder and devote more time to lifting, it's definately not gay.

It's not gay at all to admire the quality of another guy's physique....I mean just look at how many fans attend bodybuilding contests.... family members, friends, relatives, etc.... surely, not everyone who watches these contests is gay. I look at bodybuilding mags all the time and I have attended many contests....and I am the furthest thing from gay...lol. :

I'm not sure why more folks haven't replied to this. Maybe it's been talked about already, but I do agree with Todd and you others. People who think it's gay are a bit ignorant. I always look at people who come back from work and have probably done very little and they say they are tired. I used to train after work and weirdly enough it made me feel more wide awake. It makes me laugh because those people need this sort of power boost.

Although I can see where the common person outside of bodybuilding may see it as strange, it is far from gay (although I imagine/know there is a grey/dark area in the sport).
I can remember the first show i went to see, I was amazed. I never knew that the human body could look like that and am still awe struck today with many of the physiques that step on stage (and I am not talking about just the hugh pros but the amateurs also). I can appreciate their physiques even more now since I now know/experienced the sort of effort, commitment, sweat and disciple it takes to get your body to look like that. I mean call it gay, but i was amazed at the last show I went to and the overall winner had straitions in his glutes! Now, am I "taken" by his ass? NO....but I know it takes alot of effort and discipline to acheive that sort of conditioning.

there's a difference between aesthetic admiration and sexual stimulation. i think there's nothing more aesthetically pleasing than a well-formed female figure - like rodin's statues.
do i want one in my bed? hello! so "i don't think so"!
as for how it's changed my life, there's no Xs on my clothing labels and i've gone from "50" to "1000" (L to M).

As a woman, I could probably say "Look at her, she must work out, she has a great body" and no one (guy or girl) would say I was gay. But if I were a guy and made the same comment about another guy, then all the guys would start ripping on me, saying I was gay, etc. For the record, I'm straight, but I don't think twice about saying another woman looks good (like what threenorns is saying).
As for the other question. I have fewer migraines since I started lifting, and I sleep better at night, which makes me feel more energetic during the day. It's like drug. When I'm sick, I feel doubly crappy because I'm sick and I can't work out :-(
