I'm not too familiar with the shadow boxing, however, I do know a few kickboxing routines for the heavybag. I like to mix up combinations for reps on the heavybag. Basically I would start with 25 jabs each arm. (30 sec. rest between) Then do 50 each arm. Then move to a left jab, right hook combo for 25. Then do right straight punch, left hook combo for 25. etc... you get the idea. Get up to 3-4 punch combos and you'll really feel it. Basic idea is mix it up, but stick to something for warmups like the above. Then do some 3 minute rounds as you are now to finish up the workout. Make sure when you are doing the 3 minute rounds to continue to work on set combinations (if you know any?)

Are you currently boxing? or learning to box somewhere? If you are you should have them answer this for you. I do kickboxing/thaiboxing and my routines and combos involve more bodyparts than just the hands.

Hope this helps

I personally think you'll get more out of boxing, especially kickboxing. It takes much more effort to incorporate your legs.

Maurer recommended running or biking in addition to boxing. There is a lot of info about boxing training on the net, a lot of it involves running and circuits to get fight fit. You don't have to do this of course. Boxers seem to be doing less and less long runs these days.
