Captains of Crush
Man my wife just got me a Captains of Crush® gripper.
WOW
I got the #1 and yes I can close it and I'm already looking for a #2.
But man if you think your grip is strong, Play with one of these!

Jaster, you make me feel like such a wimp!
I've got the 80# Sport and the 100# Trainer models. I can do three sets x12 each hand with the Sport with no problems, but can only barely manage about 1 set x12 with the Trainer. When I first got them I could barely close the Trainer once. I'm a looooong way from the #1!
They are great for the forearms though. :

Gearloose, it dosen't sound like your too far away from a #1 :
jaster, I bet you didn't even "set" the #1 with your other hand before you closed it
I'm still trying to close my #2 consistantly, I can close it on good days and only by using a DEEP "set" with my free hand before mashing it shut

Hey guys, there's a 40% jump in resistance between a Trainer and a #1!
That's a lot!
FWIW: I squeaked out two sets on each hand with my Trainer today. One thing the grippers have shown me is the strength difference between my left and right grip. My right is the strongest--odd because I'm left handed.

http://www.1tonhooks.com/JackHammer.htm Whats everybody opinion on this?Been debating on getting this or CoC grippers.Obviously much higher up front but wouldnt grippers eventually become obsolete after you develop an x amount of strength?Guess they would be good to have in case of some unforseen layoff or injury though.

Well, the Ironmind Captains of Crush grippers progress up to an incredible 365 lb resistance. They are only about $20 per gripper, so as you outgrow one size it is not a major investment to get the next one. Ironmind states on their website that only 5 men in the world have closed their 365 lb gripper under controlled conditions. (Why do I suspect that Jaster may want to be #6? )

Check out some of the other grip strength tools at Ironminds. They have lots of different items.

Jaster, just an update... how are you doing with the grippers? Are ya playin' with the #2 like it's nobody's business?? Don't give up on the grippers - they'll get ya strong for other types of lifts besides having just strong hands!!
Grip strength is my religion - and right now I'm trying to make Archbishop!!
