This is NOT scientific evidence. Just an anecdotal statement from what I've noticed when I do them. It may be different for others.
When I do them with a closer grip, I feel them more in the traps - not the top of the traps, but the back of them mostly. If I go wider, I feel them more in the deltoids.
Some people say not to do upright rows because they can be tough on the shoulders. I find that by keeping my grip closer, this is not a problem for me.
