I believe they work your muscles differently but not sure which one does what. Can anyone explain to me briefly what parts of the biceps these two are geared towards?

Don't try to isolate the bicep into sections and work your routine that way. Jus work your biceps, switch it up, and keep your body guessiing. Preacher curls, standing straight bar curls, hammer curls, chin ups, etc. Throw in alot of pulling movements, hit your back hard...but it kills the biceps too.
