Which is better, stabbing yourself in the leg with a pencil or a pen?

Pen, you wouldn't have to worry about lead poisoning.

there's no lead in pencils - the "lead" is graphite.

I will tell you this, that if you leave an ordinary tooth or one of your old childhood teeth in a glass of Coke overnight, it would be pretty much gone by the next morning. Leave Coke alone really or you could become diabetic.

lol - i see you fell for that email hoax.

i tested it: the nail did not dissolve, nor did the paint on the hood of my explorer, and the toilet bowl was no cleaner than had i used straight water.

drinking coke will not make you diabetic, nor will eating too much sugar.

being massively overweight will, however.

I tell you it did clean my dirty coins but thats the acid not the sugar.

How can you say eating too much sugar will not gain diabetes, In most cases there is a genetic factor but continuously spiking insulin will cause receptor activity reducement and mutations. We can argue its genetic but there are so many increasing cases out there now it is no longer a minority and so no one should be told not to worry about eating too much sugar.

if you don't have the gene to become diabetic, eating too much sugar WILL NOT cause diabetes.

if, however, you allow yourself to become obese - a frequent result of eating excess sugar - you are probably going to develop type II diabetes from insulin resistance. lose the weight, however, and TII diabetes will probably go away.

the myth that sugar causes diabetes came about because ppl noticed that diabetics tend to crave sugar.

Regular diabetes is congenital.

And besides, the discussion was about diet Coke/Pepsi.

3n, the constant insulin ups and downs from over consumption of sugar (or even good carbs in excess) ARE the cause of insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is DMII. If you are still at the point in the disease that it can be controlled by diet or oral meds, yes controlling blood sugar with diet can make the DMII go away, but you still have it - you just have it controlled. If you are to the point that you have to use insulin injections, the diet changes will help, but not totally control it.

I have a friend who has been an IDDM II patient since we were 16. He has continued to get fatter and in worse health since that time. His docs were telling him, go ahead, eat normally just use your insulin. Finally, a couple of weeks ago - he got to the point that his blood sugar was staying around 300 all the time even with his insulin. He felt like crap all the time, Blood pressure on the verge of hypertensive crisis all the time. Not able to get in to the doc for over a week. I told him to start eating with me - and eat what I eat (just to keep his blood sugar checked closely and some oral glucose handy). He spent the next few days eating red meat, chicken, fish, green veggies with no sugar, no starch. Amazingly his blood sugar stayed a little over 100 the whole time, he felt great for the first time in years - and even dropped 7 or 8 pounds.

Then the doc told him that it was too dangerous, just go back to eating "normally" and increased his insulin. What a shame.

Wow, sorry for the hijack. I'm just very interested in endocrinology and want to help prevent diabetes whenever I can.

As far as diet coke vs diet pepsi goes - neither one is particularily good for you. Neither one is going to significantly effect bodybuilding though. If you don't want to stick to plain water and need the carbonated "bite" of a soda then have the one you like. Once a week (sometimes twice, sometimes I'll go two weeks), for my "cheat", I have a diet rite soda - because it tastes just like RC - my favorite.
