db and cable flyes question

i was wondering what you think the advantages, disadvantages are of cable and db flyes? i would think that db flyes would help your bench at the bottom and cable would help at the top, not trying to exclude the tricept but stricktly based on the pecs involvment.

Flyes will help break up those capillaries towards the outter pec and help with the overall chest development. Good finishing exercise after your primary presses.

Not sure what you're saying here.... Would you explain that a bit?

In a nutshell, db or cable flyes are like any other exercise- you push your limits, you stimulate growth. If not, you get nothin'...

Advantages to both exercises: isolated pectoral stimulation.

Disadvantages: All depends on how you look at it. Db's don't allow constant tension while cables do, but both work well as isolation exercises. On cable crossover apparatus, you can continually change your position (since you're standing) to find that sweet spot. Lying on a bench using db's will make that more difficult (but not entirely impossible, either). They are both good, change every now and then to keep things fresh.

Tuna, that came from my dad who's a physical therapist. He said that when a muscle is put under strain, it causes microscopic tears in the muscle and the capillaries around the muscle burst. Just going by what he said.

I feel better burn when doing standing cable flys, with dumbells I feel tension in my biceps and not a lot in the chest, maybe it's my positioning, doing it wrong.
