Question

Deadlift, Rows, Shrugs- Hooks

My friend uses hooks for deadlifts, rows and shrugs and he claims that this way you hit better part of body you're training and your forearms don't suffer...
on the other hand I never use hooks and yes, I "feel" my forearms training.
Of course, he can add much more weight with hooks on all those exercises. So now, we are in discussion:
Is it better to use hooks and lift more weight(->harder exercising the targeted body part) or is it better not to use them and develop stronger grip and forearms? (->go easier on targeted body part)

Sori for eny bed inglish. :

If you want to, you can use straps, use more weight, then throw in extra grip work. It depends ony your goals.

Hooks are the same idea as using straps. Look around and you will find plenty of discussions.

If you aren't training for a powerlifting meet where you're going to need to lift as much as you can without straps, then I'd say just use them if you really want to. You can always train your grip seperately, as abarlament said. There's no law that says you have to use deadlifts as your source of grip strength training.
