Deadlifts and Shins

Before, while reading other posts considering DL and form and such, I thought how the hell do these people scrape their shins...well yesterday, I did. I think my form is obviously correct as my back is sore, my shins are scrapped up, and damn I'm closer to being a full blown BB man. LOL

Shin splitting experience DL is.

Thought I'd like to share my growth from weight tranining adolesences.

Hopefully your technique was on point (sore back only tells you ...you have a sore back).

When I was big on BB deads I used to have some nasty scrapes when hitting higher weights. I personally do not have much use for intense BB deads. I'd rather use a "hex" bar or DB these days.

There was a great article that was long over due about different dead techniques and why a person would use them. It showed video footage of a powerlifter way of deadlifting, an athlete way (other than lifter) deadlifting, and an average joe way of deadlifting. All 3 were done differently for different reasons. The powerlfiter is the most dangerous and the ugliest of forms, but is the most effective for dealing with the physics of getting the most weight up (the simple goal of a lifter) "leverage versus weight".

That sounds like a very interesting article Ty. Are you able to link to it?

Hey motivasted, congrats on banging up the shins. What you've described, does sound like a "power dead" the "weight vs leverage" thing as ty described. Safer for the back and a good back strengthening lift. My shins seem to be permanantly bruised and a few chunks I took out of them from when I lifted that way seem to be missing for good, they've healed but the chunks are gone. I just do SLDL now for my weak hamstrings so now my shins don't get banged up anymore.

Ty, thanks for the links. Gonna read up there. I do love me some deadlifting articles. I don't know why, I just like them.
