Did my sets like this

Last time I was at the gym, yesterday, I did my sets a different way and I really felt my arms were destroyed... I worked just my biceps, normally I would do, lets say, a bicep dumbbell curl and I would go 25lbs X10 three times and on the third set I would not be able to complete the 10 rep. this time I did:

25lbs X 10
25lbs x10
30lbs x 6 then with no rest 20lbs as many as I could, which yesterday was 8.

After doing this for my entire bicep workout I felt my arm was destroyed, in a good way... Is this a good way to do your sets?

It's fine. Don't know if that burnout set is doing much of anything. But hell, its probably not doing any harm either.

all the burnout set does is exhaust your muscle. it's not overloading or stimulating further growth. but if it gives you mental satisfaction, then have fun.

There is some evidence to suggest that the "burnout" set does have some value as it assists in delivering more nutrient rich blood to the area being exercised. Part of those nutrients are hormones that put our body into an anabolic state - eg testosterone.

Also the "burnout" set can recruit other types of muscle fibre previously untapped ie medium and slow twitch as muscle reaches fatigue

Should this type of formula be the mainstay of your program? maybe not all the time but I certainly include "burnout" or 'pump" or whatever you wish to call them, once per body part every few weeks.

I thought that the more the muscle got burned out the more damage you would have done and hence the bigger/stronger the rebuild... Thanks guys, I guess I will do this burnout set every once and a while...

Oh one more qu, what is a superset?

a superset is going from one exercise to another without resting - ie, bicep curls then straight into tricep kickbacks or barbell bench press straight into military press.
