discouraging scale

damn scales...

i know how unreliable they are, but theyre still an ego piece.

i usually weight 182, and i went on it today (admitially after eating carbs carbs carbs and running), and I just felt bloated. I weight 188! wth?

I doubt after 3 weeks of seriously working out I gained that much. Check out my journal (which dialogues 2 weeks so far) and see that its probably impossible for me to gain that much.

Aye.... who knows?

Hopefully I'm progressing. Sometimes in the mirror I look more cut, other times I look bloated - maybe I'm crazy or diet has that much an effect on your temporary image?!

Blah, just ranting.

I'm measuring soon, maybe we'll see a difference, hopefully good... As per my journal, I think I'm doing fine and that my work outs are perfect; I AM working hard......

hmmm

Possibly excess water from the extra carbs?

Carbs aren't bad if they are the right ones at the right time and put into the right body. But they do cause some water gains. Sometimes extra water is good, sometimes not.

Hmmm, I thought I was following all the journals. I've missed yours. Sorry.

I'm not posting in them much lately but am trying to make the energy to improve on that.

I'll go find it now.

if you are comparing your weight, always do it under the same conditions. For me this is first thing in the morning nekkid. I know that to weight myself with clothes on and after eating/drinking anything could add 5lbs so why do that to yourself?

Pick a day, say saturday, and only weigh that morning. Once a week, same time ,same conditions.

Even something like, having a high salt meal the night before can skew a scale reading by a couple of pounds.

You couldnt gain 8lbs of actual weight in a week unless you accidentally ate an extra 28000 calories so stop worrying!

Your weight could be fluctuating by a few pounds just due to water gain or loss. Also, most scales are not very accurate. I used mine at home to weigh my cat. I stand on the scale and weigh myself, then pick him up and weigh us both together. When I tried to weigh him, he weighed 12 lbs the first time and 16 lbs the second time, only about 30 seconds later. I serioulsy doubt that either me or the cat gained 4 lbs in 30 seconds
