does it matter?

i was curious i have a olympic bb set but i hate logging the long bar from the bench to the floor on leg/shoulder days

is it possible or has anyone used the olympic ez bar for their leg/shoulder days?

the only disadvantage i can think of is weight i couldnt add to it like a BB.

wanted to use for these exercises: squats,SL deadlifts/military press/standing calf raises

Lifting heavy things is what workouts are all about ... aren't they? Why shy away from weight-plate removal?

My Olympic curl bar weighs just 25-lbs (52" long). Since the curl bar is not intended to take very much weight, the length of the receiving sleeve is substantially shorter than a full-length bar that you'd use for squats. My curl bar will only take 7½" of plate width. My standard 7' bar will take 15".

How does that curl bar feel across your shoulders?

... just unload the plates ...

Also.. I think if you sqauted with a shorter bar, you would be very unbalanced.

Loading and unloading a bar can be a valuable part of your training. Most of us have one side that is smaller and weaker than the other. Using it to load and unload the plates gives it some extra work and can help it "catch up".
