dropping back/biceps day for climbing?

This summer, I had lots of time, and I generally went to the gym 5 or more times per week, doing a three day split of:
back/biceps
chest/triceps
legs/abs
and the other days cardio.

Since then, school has started, and I can generally get into the gym 2-3 times per week. However, I've started back into the "climbing season' at school - we climb at least once, usually twice during the school week, and usually once on the weekend. As climbing works mainly the back/biceps, and I dont want to over-stress those muscles, I have stopped doing a back/biceps day in the gym.

My goals are to improve at climbing and to achieve better definiton: strength and mass gains in traditional bodybuilding are not super-high on my list (though important).
As I go to the gym less, I have stopped doing much cardio, but thats fine for me. (I generally get some just playing games with friends, b-ball or ult.frisbee, every now and then)

I guess my question is, do you think dropping back/biceps is all right for mygoals, and how negatively will doing less cardio affect my definition (fat-loss)goals?

Have you considered full body type work outs?

Actually, I kind of like the idea. Rock climbing takes lots (did I say lots?) of upper body strength. I would still focus on heavier lifts one day a week in the gym for the back/chest areas. Make sure not to forgo the legs, either.

I really don't think skipping your back, bicep days in the gym will hurt your climbing, as in climbing you need more musslce endurace then ultimate power. Personally I would still try to keep the back day in there, but that's because mass and strength are high on my list of priorities.

Do you think basketball players stop training legs?

thanks for the suggestions.
I guess I'll try and incorporate back and bicep days in when I didn't climb the day before and won't be able to climb the day after.
That should be good. Today I did twenty pullups, just for fun. I think i could've done more.
Anyway, about the second question: how negatively will not doing much cardio affect my fat loss goals?

It depends on your genetics and how intense the other workouts are. Lots of "hardgainers" don't need to incorporate cardio at all. If you gain easily then I would make sure you keep some cardio in your routine.

afaik rock climbing is good cardio. so if you do that a couple times a week then you'll have your cardio taken care of.
