I do side bends on the back extension machine at my gym. Or using a dumbell in one hand hanging at your side you can do side bends that way, which I find very effective.

I used to do what Ajarvis does all the time. Great exercise, I just haven't had them in my routine for a while.

What is a "saxon bend"? I use the upper cable on a cable machine, hookup a single handle, and do sidebends like that. They work a lot better for me than the dumbell version.

If you are doing regular ab work along with heavy duty basic/compound lifting for other exercises, then your obliques should get plenty of stimulation and development. As soon as I started dead lifting and squatting heavy, they blew right up, yet I never have/do work them directly. This is the same with many other bodybuilders I know and have talked to.

I don't really even understand why anyone WANTS to do exercises to directly stimulate growth for your obliques.... obliques respond very easily and fast to direct stimulation, and added size to obliques easily makes your waist look blocky and wide, taking away from any v-taper you may have or be striving to get....not sure why anyone would want that look, so I sit here wondering why all this fuss over what exercises to use ...mystifiying to me!

Some have interests beyond the cosmetic taper.

So deadlifts should take care of your obliques?
